The Empire State Building

I felt like a snow queen. We had
50 people dressed in 50 little suits
greeting us at every corner warning us
of zero visibility at the top. On we
went passed the green screens through
the velvet ropes. Dodging all these
funny little people telling us there
was nothing to see. And then we were
there above all moving things in one
of the fastest moving cities in the
world and all was quiet and still.
It was as though the snow was forming
layers upon layers of thin silk
laces ebbing in the winds at all levels
softening all the city to a few
single sharp edges and glows.
I did a rock n' roll power slide
and laughed. Then I just smiled at
the city for a good twelve minutes
but I don't think it could see me.
Thank You Ben

The Moma

Marlene Dumas

Looking at Marlene Dumas' portraits is not like looking
at art at all. It's like being in a room filled up with
people who are fully exposed and available for any and all
speculation and they seem to want to talk to you but can't
decide if they like you enough to strike a conversation. It
was one of the most awkward, touching, social interactions I've ever
had and I highly suggest meeting her pieces face to face and asking
them their secrets as soon as you get the chance.

Nan Goldin

She has dedicated her life to telling a truth and she tells
it beautifully. She doesn't withhold the gorey details and
she doesn't spit shine the pretty parts. It's just her life
and it's beautiful to behold.

Theo Jansen

Just in case you haven't been introduced to this genius
